Day 21: Footage of the Yolanda Candlelight Memorial

As the sun set on November 8, 2014, one year after Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), thousands of Taclobanons and visitors lit over 25,000 candles along major city streets to “remember as one”.

The effect was powerful. As you walked down any street you saw families lighting candles for their loved ones, children playing in the candlelight, and rows upon rows of glowing candles.

The event was sponsored in part by Tacloban’s Cat 8 News TV station. Our Marketing & Social Media Advisor, Kayla Patterson, sat down with the station manager Jeff on Tuesday, November 11th and reflected on the event. Jeff shared how thankful he is for the presence of all of the INGO’s in Tacloban and said, “This was for all of us.”

Cat 8 News TV’s full coverage of the event can be viewed on their USTREAM channel.
