Peru

Overview

Cleaner Burning Stoves in PeruPeru is a South American nation which spans from the white sands of the Pacific coastline to the awe-inspiring heights of the Andes. It is a country with a long history of Spanish colonization and takes pride in its rich mountain community traditions and its breathtaking natural beauty.

However, despite being a country so favorable to the eye, Peru is burdened with a number of deep socioeconomic problems stemming from more than 30% of its country living in poverty. As a result the country suffers from a number of issues such as underfunded social welfare, education and public health services as well as an at-risk ecosystem.

As a result of sustainable change, local projects in Peru are beginning to make a difference at addressing concerns regarding social welfare, education public health and the environment. Through raising awareness and supporting worthwhile causes, the GoAbroad Foundations hopes to support significant changes that will improve the lives of Peruvian communities.

This initiative aims to reverse these statistics by constructing cleaner burning stoves in rural Peruvian communities.

By supporting the Cleaner Burning Stoves Project through the GoAbroad Foundation, you can help make sustainable change and reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular disease, bronchitis and asthma whilst at the same time helping to reduce the quantity of fossil fuels used during traditional cooking.

Water Filtration ProjectWater Filtration Project - Diarrheal diseases caused by bacteria and parasites in unsafe drinking water kills approximately 1.8 million people a year, mostly children under the age of 5. Through the implementation of Ceramic Pot Filters (CPF) these numbers can be reversed.

If you choose to support the Water Filtration Project through the GoAbroad Foundation, you will help make immediate and sustainable change that will reduce the number of illnesses caused by unsafe drinking water through Urubamba, Peru.
