Elephant Livelihood Initiative Environment

Beneficiary Organization Partner

Founded in 2006, Elephant Livelihood Initiative Environment (E.L.I.E) is a nongovernmental organization with a range of projects that fall under their two core program types: EcoTourism and Community Development. Based in the Mondulkiri Province of Cambodia, E.L.I.E. has helped to provide sanctuary for over 20 elephants through the Elephant Valley Project, provided jobs for over 50 local people, offered scholarships to 40 students, and created a healthcare program that has eliminated enormous barriers to healthcare for local families.

E.L.I.E.’s Mission

E.L.I.E. aims to improve the welfare and well-being of captive elephants in Cambodia by running an elephant sanctuary, conserving elephants’ natural habitat, creating jobs that allow the local people to support the needs of elephants, and educating the local community about environmental and elephant conservation.

Our Partnership History

The GoAbroad Foundation began partnering with E.L.I.E in December 2019, after being introduced to their programs and mission through our Give Together Program outreach.

We’ll be announcing their first GoAbroad Foundation supported project in January 2020, so stay tuned!
